Costing Manager 1

Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for leading all financial operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring accuracy of financial reporting, strong cost control, and effective support of production and business objectives. This role oversees accounting, cost analysis, transactional processes (AR/AP), fixed assets, inventory management, and internal controls while partnering closely with operations, supply chain, and corporate finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Oversee general ledger integrity, account reconciliation, and financial consolidation.
Transactional Accounting (AR/AP/GL)
- Oversee Accounts Receivable including invoicing, collections, cash application, and customer account management.
- Monitor customer payment performance, resolve discrepancies, and ensure adherence to automotive customer billing requirements.
- Manage Accounts Payable including vendor invoices, payment processing, 3-way matching, and vendor issue resolution.
- Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and general ledger transactions.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of all transactional accounting activities.
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and control compliance.
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance
- Maintain accurate standard costs, BOMs, routings, and overhead allocations.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Strong internal controls aligned with corporate and audit standards.
- External and internal audits, including AR/AP and fixed asset audits.
- Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and automotive industry requirements.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage accounting and transactional teams (AP/AR/GL), coaching and developing staff.
- Communicate financial performance and risks to plant leadership.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on program launches, pricing, and operational strategies.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA, CMA, or CA strongly preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
- Strong experience in transactional accounting, including AR/AP.
- Automotive manufacturing experience required.
- Background in cost accounting, fixed assets and plant operations support.
Skills
- Advanced Excel and strong financial modeling capabilities.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, fixed asset accounting, and transactional processes.
- Strong analytical and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
